Lead Developer / Designer, "SLAMFIRE" - Lux Systems, Distributed
August 2023 - Current

Design, planning, and implementation of game and player interaction mechanics, technical systems, code structure and visual assets for 3D, first-person video games.

2/3D asset creation, including modeling and texturing, level design, image editing, animation and rigging with experience using inverse kinematics. Tools used include Blender, NetRadiant, and Photoshop.

Implemented custom tooling for other team members including a Valve 220 .MAP file parser and support for common tooling with standalone game definitions for level designers.

Projects coded in GDScript and C++, for both Godot engine modification and older game reference material. Extensive use of object-oriented programming, with a mix of composition and inheritance. Familiar with coroutines/asynchronous methods in addition to multithreading.

Collaborated with various different company areas to deliver desired product, or engineering information. Frequent usage of SQL and Python skills to analyze both user and website performance data, and data warehousing structures.

Provided company leaders and product teams with visual dashboards to show user activity over time for the platform and its content with Excel, and platforms like Datadog and Metabase.

For other developers/engineers, this created a faster and smoother debugging experience with better logging and error tracing/handling tools complete with real-time monitors and smoke tests to escalate automatically to on-call and update the team in relevant ways.
